Even before having his red pill, Thomas Anderson (Neo) had the feeling something was wrong with him…. There was something in his life that didn’t fit . He had a job, a house, he had some hobbies, he was a renowed Internet expert and he also enjoyed good health. Like him, a lot of us have, at some point, had the impression that we were different from the rest because of the way we behave or the way we think. We have then checked we didn’t really fit in the world around us. However, if we go on using the “Matrix” simile, we shouldn’t forget that it was his taking the red pill that made the difference. From that point on, not only did he start knowing the real world, but he also started knowing himself. On his way, he also met great ‘comrades’ he had never dreamt of meeting and he eventually managed to rule the world that surrounded him.
This
blog is based on this idea of self-knowledge and its use in order to
cope with our environment. Through a series
of short passages inspired by fictional characters that filled my
entire childhood, I’ll try to share what I have modestly learnt in
the world of self-knowledge.
To put
an end to this first entry, I’d like to point out that all of us
have, at some point, admired Sherlock Holmes’s deductions,
Spiderman’s strength and ‘spider’ skills, Jack Shephard’s
charisma or Catwoman’s sensuality. However, all of them have
something in common: despite their incredible skills, they were just
ordinary people, average people who left their insecurities behind,
people who made the most of their potential while being human at the
same time.
Here starts
my “self-improvement’ blog.
PS: I had my
‘red pill’ 6 years ago.
